I have always been interested in how things work—and in building things that work.

That instinct has taken me across engineering, technology, products and entrepreneurship. I co-founded Mettle Networks, where I serve as CEO, building networking and communications products. Engineering has never been just my profession. It is also how I tend to understand the world.

My interests tend to cross disciplines. I can be equally fascinated by a networking architecture, an AI model, a piece of machinery, or the physics behind music. What interests me most is often not the individual technology, but the system underneath it: its constraints, trade-offs, interactions and behaviour at scale.

My professional interests are centred on computing, networking and communications, high-performance and large-scale systems, and increasingly, generative and agentic AI. I am especially drawn to technologies that change what can be built, how efficiently it can be built, or how we think about an existing problem.

Entrepreneurship adds another dimension to that curiosity.

Building a company constantly forces you to move between engineering, products, customers, economics, people and strategy. I enjoy that movement between disciplines. Some of the most useful ideas I have encountered have come from looking at a problem through a lens borrowed from somewhere else.

That is also the idea behind this site.

I write here about things I encounter while building, reading, experimenting, learning and thinking through problems. Technology and engineering feature prominently, along with entrepreneurship, product strategy, leadership and AI. From time to time, I also write about subjects further afield when they offer an interesting problem, mechanism or connection worth exploring.

This is therefore less a technology blog than a personal journal of ideas.

I do not expect to have the final answer to everything I write about. In fact, many of the subjects that interest me begin with a question, an observation, or something I thought I understood until I looked at it more closely. Writing is one way I try to work through those questions.

Beyond my work at Mettle, I speak on technology, entrepreneurship and leadership, participate in angel investing, and advise entrepreneurs on B2B product and business strategy.
